Research Scientist – High-throughput CRISPR Screening – Berkeley

Regel Therapeutics is a gene modulation therapy company focused on improving the life of patients suffering from disorders resulting from alteration of gene expression. Our proven T3 (Targeted Therapeutic Technology) platform combines AAV delivery with two proprietary technologies for efficient and specific restoration of gene expression exclusively in the cells affected by the athology. We are a seed-stage startup based in Cambridge, MA and Berkeley, CA and we are looking for a talented Research Scientist to join our R&D team to help develop our preclinical programs.

Berkeley, CA

Role Responsibilities

  • Design, optimize, and implement high throughput screens, such as pooled single-cell CRISPR screens and MPRAs, for in vitro and/or in vivo applications
  • Execute single cell sequencing experiments, including tissue/cell/nuclei prep and NGS library preparation
  • Analyze experimental results, including single-cell and NGS datasets, and formulate conclusions for presentation to the scientific leadership
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of activities

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, genetics/genomics, neurobiology, or related field
  • Strong background in high-throughput molecular screening methodologies (i.e. CRISPR screening, MPRA)
  • Experience producing and analyzing single-cell genomics libraries (scRNA-seq and/or scATAC-seq)
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture methods (i.e. transfection/transduction, FACS)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record of working in collaborative environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in computational biology/bioinformatics
  • Background in neuroscience/neurobiology or muscle/cardiovascular biology
  • Previous experience working with AAVs and lentiviruses
  • Previous experience processing tissues from in vivo experiments
